Highlands, NC - 04 Jul 2023

More fun with fireworks, this time in Highlands, NC. Like the year before, I used a technique where the picture is started out of focus and then manually brought into focus during the explosion. This leaves the beginning of the firework out of focus and the edges in focus.

Using a tripod and a long lens (100,500mm) each shot is 1.5 to 2.5 seconds long. Because of the length of the shot the tripod has to be locked down. The real challenge is knowing where the firework will be to begin the technique.

This photograph is nice as it is a gold/yellow firework against a still blue sky just after sunset.
