Mesa Arch
Moab, UT - 10 Apr 2021
I was up early (0200 hrs) to photograph the Milky Way and after taking several pictures I decided to wait until sunrise to catch the iconic shot through Mesa Arch. It was a long wait - another photographer and I staked out good spots for our tripods. I had been there the day prior and there were over 20 photographers tripod to tripod - very difficult. Today we had good positions and there were only about 7 by sunrise.
I was able to get close to the arch and include the Colorado River valley as well as the sun coming over the La Sal Mountains.
I took many many pictures in the second prior to and after sunrise - fortunately caught the starburst of the sun over the mountains. Very high aperture to get the starburst. I underexposed to capture the light on the ceiling of the arch.
Tired but happy I headed back to the hotel for a big breakfast - and more coffee.
