Handsome Bird

I love shooting hummingbirds hand held in the "wild" - the wild is at the Desert Botanical Garden so there are plenty of flowers to attract the little guys. This capture was great because of the light and the fact that the camera and the hummingbird were perpendicular.

My technique for these birds is a very fast shutter speed between 1/4000 and 1/3000 of a second. That stops or slows the wings. That does mean a higher ISO to shoot hand held. I typically use auto-ISO and hope it does not get too high. A lot depends on the available light.

I have many hummingbird photographs but this is the best due to the light on the little bird and resulting colors.
