Cattle Drive

Austin, TX - 15 Oct 2011      See on Google Maps

This is not one of my best photographs but a fun story. I signed up as a photographer for a project to shoot pictures for 24 hours in Austin we were given hours by drawing and I drew an afternoon time slot - not the best. We found this reenactment of a cattle drive and headed there. I had two cameras and looked like a photographer so I simply made friends with a real news photographer on site and the police let me and him get into the drive area. We stood by a fairly large tree and shot pictures as the cattle moved toward us - then hid behind the tree as they came by - the horns came very close. The cowboys had fun trying to drive the cattle into the "photographers". This photo was included in the show.
