Hathor

Karnak , Egypt - 01 Mar 2022      See on Google Maps

On a cruise down the Nile River we stopped at many ancient sites. At the Temple of Hathor there has been extensive renovation of the ceiling where centuries of smoke had damaged the colors. The entrance into the great hypostyle hall of the temple were added by the Romans in 80 BC. There are 24 columns each bearing the head of Hathor facing the four directions. Early Christians defaced the image of Hathor on the pillars.

Using a standard lens I was able to take this composition shooting straight up. I like the blue on the column.
