Stary Night

Traveling down the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon we camped at Nautiloid Canyon (mile 35) for our first night. I was still excited to be in the canyon, so decided to wait until 11:00 pm to photograph the Milky Way. It was difficult timing as there was a narrow slot between the towering canyon walls.

The photographs were taken at a long exposure on a tripod. I was lucky that in this picture a Perseid meteor was crossing in the middle of the frame.

I used my fastest lens, 16-35mm at 2.8f aperture to capture the Milky Way.
