Colorful Spines
Phoenix, AZ - 15 Mar 2020 See on Google Maps
This cholla was alive with colors on the new spines - and there are a lot of spines on a cholla. The cactus was a bit off the trail so I needed to use the 100-400 all the way at 400mm. This helped to blur the background. I focused on the branch to the left and kept it at the top/left rule of thirds point. Unfortunately due to the long focal length (400mm) I had to bump up the ISO and speed up the shutter speed - but the sharpness and color held.
